Ongoing research undertaken to answer the question that seems to come on a daily basis, not only from festivals but from local and national government and various other bodies in the industry.
The Festival Map
This tool has been created by Chris Carey of FastForward Events, commissioned by Steve Heap (ex-AFO) with funding from the Events Industry Forum EIF (principal funder) and LIVE (supporter), to capture the scale and scope of music festivals across England, Scotland and Wales.
The intention is to build as comprehensive a view as possible of all festivals in the UK where music is a peak part of the event. Festival definitions can be hard to pin down, and vary by sector. To qualify for inclusion an event must have 4 or more acts playing over a day or more than one day.
Whilst care has been taken, there may be errors within the data set and events might have been cancelled or indeed be missing. If the reader knows an event has incorrect information, please use the forms below to help us correct them. Where known, we have identified the licence capacity of the festival. Zero simply means we don’t have that information, and we would welcome it. Similarly, if an event is missing or has been cancelled you can report that, again using the links below.
Use the map to identify the festivals that we have captured -
- Blue Dots represent the 2024 festival and dates.
- Green Dots represent the 2025 festival and dates.
- Therefore, some festivals will have both dots. When the year changes the new year will have a new colour.
- If you can't click a dot, use the + button to zoom in.
You can search by months, year, the nearest city, and the final box will tell you how many festivals match your search.
